Roguebook gameplay5/1/2023 ![]() I would say that Slay the Spire has a lot of story and theme! It's definitely a bit of a fantasy mishmash at times, but the basics would be that there is an evil spire blighting the lands and great warriors attempted to defeat it. I pretty much agree with you on Disco Elysium, I think the world art shines through in a couple of places but mostly its good art is in its portraiture and painted splashes. Probably cheating but when I want to cite a gorgeous game, I think Inis (but that’s a boardgame). ![]() ![]() We definitely agree on some games (Banner Saga is gorgeous) but not others (like the actual art pieces in Disco Elysium are great, I have the level up screen as my wallpaper at work but like, the actual gameplay art is very meh imo). Which may say more about me than about the game. Like for me my response to that is… evocative of what world? Does StS even have a story, or a even like… a theme? I… honestly never noticed. Oh nah no worries, stuff like this is super subjective so I find it interesting. It's probably not up there with some of the prettiest games I've played (Banner Saga, Invisible Inc, maybe Disco Elysium), but it's still ahead of so much in my libraryĮdit: Sorry, not trying to harp on this I just legitimately find it interesting I really like the art, I think it's a very stylish fantasyĪnd beyond that I find so much of it evocative of the world, which is overall not heavily detailed or described It’s kind of janky in a way I find endearing but not like, a pretty or stylish game. I also think StS is kind of… ugly may be the wrong word?
